The Story Behind "Peat Reek."
"Peat reek" is an old term from Scotland and Ireland for the smoky scent of peat that clung to illicitly distilled whisky — smoke from spirits quietly made, beyond the excise man's reach.
We took that name to heart as a nod to our owner's lifelong devotion to whisky. For 20 years, our small counter tucked into a Ginza backstreet has aimed to be a place where regulars find "the usual," and first-time guests find "tonight's favorite." If whisky isn't your thing, our seasonal fruit cocktails are a popular place to start.
